Mountain ranges, pristine lakes, lychee forests and wall-to-wall Platinum TE™ Paspalum turfgrass blend beautifully as the landscape of the newest 27 holes at Guangzhou Dragon Lake Golf Club. The IMG design by Brit Stenson incorporates the elements of nature to create an unforgettable golf experience.
With 10 kilometers of mountain ranges, a 42 square kilometer lake, and hills and valleys in between, the course features changes in elevation lending to the beauty and challenge of Dragon Lake Golf Club. Platinum TE Paspalum was chosen for tees, greens, fairways and surrounds based on its versatility, vibrant winter color, disease resistance, and excellent playability.
“IMG have been great fans of paspalum since the mid-90’s, and we felt like the new Platinum TE would be the best choice for the new King’s Course at Dragon Lake,” said Steve Shepherdson, IMG Senior Design Associate & Project Manager. “Their existing course had ‘Salam,’ so the team was familiar with the paspalums. It was an easy choice. The course has turned out to be stunning and the maintenance team is doing a super job.”
Guangzhou Dragon Lake Golf Club is located in Beixing, in the Huandu District of China. The new holes opened for member play in August of 2011, and the club grand opening will take place in the fall of 2012. Lewis Liu is the golf course superintendent.
