Along the beautiful southeastern coast of Vietnam, grassing has begun at the Greg Norman-designed championship Ho Tram golf course. With TifEagle Bermudagrass greens and Tifway 419 fairways, the seaside course will offer a links golf experience complete with rolling dunes and ocean views.
“The grasses supplied by Atlas Turf to this high profile project, the first of its kind in Vietnam, are performing extremely well and have achieved 100 percent coverage in five weeks,” said Laurie Walsh, IMG Senior Design Associate. “The site conditions at Ho Tram are at times difficult due to the site having coastal sand dunes that sustain high winds and drought conditions, but the grasses have had no problems overcoming the conditions and stabilizing the sands. We are looking forward to getting the fairways and greens into play condition.
“The service provided by Atlas has been excellent throughout the entire purchase through delivery process, and the Atlas staff in Vietnam ensured the import procedure and formalities were completed without delay and the grass arrived on schedule. Atlas staff were on site the entire time the planting was being carried out to ensure the grass was in good condition and coordinated the unloading with the local Vietnamese shipping company, which made the entire process for the IMG management team easier.
“IMG have used Atlas Turf on multiple occasions and because of the excellent quality of the turf grass and the commitment of their staff, we look forward to continuing our longstanding working relationship,” said Walsh.
The golf course is part of the Ho Tram Strip project in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province and is expected to open in the third quarter of 2013.
